Supporting sustainability
At the start of October, we were proud to support JUST ONE TREE through a sustainable non-uniform day, with students and staff coming together to make a positive difference for the environment. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we raised enough money to fund the planting of an incredible 742 trees, helping to support global reforestation projects and environmental conservation initiatives.
The trees will contribute to projects in countries including Brazil, Madagascar, Chile and Kenya, helping to restore important habitats, support biodiversity and tackle climate change. The funds raised will also support kelp regeneration projects in the Philippines and Australia, helping to protect marine ecosystems and improve ocean health.
Over the next 25 years, the 742 trees funded by our school are expected to remove approximately 228.54 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Beyond the environmental benefits, the projects will also support local communities by creating employment opportunities and protecting habitats for wildlife.
The initiative formed part of our wider commitment to sustainability and encouraged students to think about the impact that small actions can have when people work together towards a common goal.
