DofE programme

Highly respected by employers and Higher Education, the DofE programme is known and celebrated for encouraging personal development and togetherness.

Each level of the Award has four elements that have to be completed typically over three to twelve months depending on the level:

Volunteering

Voluntary work in the local community that could be combined with potential work experience e.g., Teaching, Coaching, Childcare.

Physical

Regular participation in a sport or fitness activity e.g., Football or Netball Teams/Clubs

Skills

Learn or improve a skill over a period of time e.g., Cooking or Music.

Expedition

A two to four- day walking journey with camping to develop teamwork.

Residential

Gold only. Time away from home meeting new people in a different environment.

Experience tells us that the award at all levels provides a young person with new insights into their capabilities and by trying new things it helps confidence to grow plus develop useful skills.
