Students enjoy giving back to the local community
Recently, a group of students from The Castle Rock School enjoyed giving back to the local community by performing a medley of songs at a local care home. The initiative came about because of a link the school formed with Tillson House back in December. Reaching out to spread some festive cheer, they invited residents in for Christmas Afternoon Tea as well as a game of Bingo.
This gesture was so warmly received that the school have agreed to run a few activities for residents, firmly establishing Castle Rock as a key component in the local community.
The talented musicians played out a variety of classic songs from Dolly Parton, Crystal Chanderlier and even Elvis. These were met with lots of clapping and toe-tapping from residents, who certainly got into the spirit of it.
The students loved being able to demonstrate their musical talents and are not doubt looking forward to performing an encore back at Tillson House very soon.
On the initiative, Assistant Headteacher Kerry Mace said: “Engaging with our local community is key to ensure students have the opportunity to explore the world beyond the school gate, to share their modern views and engage with a diverse range of individuals.”
