Students enjoy spellbinding trip to Harry Potter World

In May, 49 young wizards from The Castle Rock School climbed aboard the Hogwarts Express and enjoyed at magical day at Harry Potter World in London.

The trip was designed to allow students – in Year 10 and 12 – the opportunity to explore various careers that exist within the media industry; it also built upon their knowledge of job prospects in other subject areas such as hair and beauty, drama and art.

Upon arriving at the iconic Leavesden film set, the excitable cohort were taken on a tour of the fantastic facilities. Awestruck, the students gazed in amazement as they explored some of the famous sets from the films, including The Great Hall, Diagon Alley, the Ministry of Magic and Dumbledoor's Office; they were even able to hope on a broom stick and participate in a real-life game of Quidditch!

After the tour, students reassembled and then participated in an interactive workshop. They were able to learn more about the production processes that went into creating the films, the wide variety of jobs available to them and how they can secure these roles in the future.

It was an action-packed day, full of magical moments that the students will no doubt treasure for years to come.

The day was such a success and the feedback so positive that plans are already underway to make this trip an annual occurrence!
